2003 September Pictures

September 03, 2003. Because the pioneer celebration was held at the end of August, the monthly Cub Scout Pack Meeting was postponed until the first week in September. Our activity for the month was a sailboat race. Each Cub Scout built a sailboat and then they had to provide the wind power to propel their sailboat the length of a rain gutter filled with water. It was a double elimination race for first, second, and third place ribbons. As with our other activities, friends, family members, and adults could participate in the races; but they were not eligible to win a ribbon.

September 11, 2003. At the beginning of the school year, new children learned that "Kindergarten is out of this World."

September 13, 2003. Andrew, Carter, and their parents visited for a few days and while they were in town we had the opportunity to attend a neighborhood picnic, play in the park, and go to the Natural History Museum to see dinosaurs and wild African animals. .

Andrew said he did not know that there was a castle in Las Vegas, so when he saw it from the road he wanted to visit it one afternoon. At that time Las Vegas was more of a family destination and there were several things for kids to do at the Excalibur Hotel/Casino Resort. Most family attractions in casinos located on The Strip have now been removed.

Playing in the backyard and swimming in Grandpa's "pool" was always a treat.

The Rainforest CafĂ© at the MGM Grand was a popular place to have lunch because there was a person that stopped at each table and make balloon items for the young guest to take home.

One day aliens were reported to be in the neighborhood, so the MIB (Men In Black) were called in to investigate the sighting.

September 24, 2003. The September Cub Scout Pack Meeting activity was making paper airplanes. There were also skits, ceremonies, and awards.

September 27, 2003. The fall weather was so nice we drove up to Mount Charleston to see the fall colors. As a bonus, some of the summer flowers were still blooming.
